Warm and sunny with a light breeze was our forecast here for the week, we had a freak rain storm yesterday in the early to mid morning. The rain put a damper on things slowed down the fishing and fishermen, but we all agree that we need the rain. The Lake is full at 704 feet above sea level with a surface temperature of 68-70 degrees. The tullies are finally fully submerged on the banks in the coves which are excellent Bass cover. I've been catching them on watermelon senkos and margarita mutilator Robo-worms.
Many anglers are starting to break out their cat fishing rods as the weather and the water warm up. Anchovies along with Mackerel, Sardines and livers have been the favorite of anglers, but the fish are picking chovies over everything else lately. Stripers can be caught on the same baits this time of year, just have patience sometimes it can take a few hours for the scent trail to reach them and then they have to go searching for it.
Rainbow trout are still being caught in the warm weather just fish a little deeper than in the past few weeks. You want to fish the 15-20 foot range with small spoons or Kastmasters, power bait, night crawlers, and eggs are a wonderful choice as well. Good Luck Y'all
Featured anglers of the week
