Feels like summer at the Lake even tho it's only may. Days have been HOT close to the 90's followed by warm nights_ Due to the heat, the water temperature sky rocketed to 67 degrees on the surface. Fish are like people, when it's too cold or hot outside they hide until the weather becomes more suitable. For now that is in the mornings and evenings. Fishing slowed way down this week with only one person recording a catch. On a better note the hot weather has knocked the wind down considerably allowing anglers to fish more areas. Dr. Al came back up to the lake, here is his report.
"Hi Danny-Al Hurwitz of Saratoga and Abbey Lev of Sunnyvale trolled the lake on 04/23/2015, and caught two Rainbow Trout and one Smallmouth Bass. The Trout were caught on Panther Martin Spinners, while the Smallmouth was caught trolling a "Pointer" Blue Shad suspending hard bait. There were two other Rainbows on the hook, but they didn't stay pinned. There were a few other strikes as well. All the fish struck trolling the western shore between Heron Bay and the Narrows. We were picking up bites in shallow water some 5-10 feet bow the surface while flat lining. Water quite clear with surface temperature 66-68 degrees. Trolling is still difficult, but improving. The lake had reportedly risen another three feet over the past few days, and there was some algae present. The "up and down" fishing conditions for trollers relate to shills in the lake levels when Delta water is let in--shortly after the water rises, conditions may temporarily worsen, but then greatly improve (especially near the shorelines) as the lake settles. Look for better fishing for the trollers in the weeks ahead. All the best, Dr. Al Hurwitz"
Thank you everyone for the support and good luck!
