Christine and three guests enjoyed an excellent five-hour Cabo fishing charter aboard the 32-foot Luhrs Blue Star with Blue Sky Cabo Fishing and Tours. Captain Chewy and his crew recorded four successful hookups near the Cabo San Lucas Lighthouse, landing two striped marlin, one sailfish and one dorado.
All four fish were caught within approximately two miles of the Lighthouse, making this a productive morning of nearshore Pacific sportfishing.
October 13, 2026 – Cabo Fishing Charter Lands First Striped Marlin
The Blue Star departed IGY Marina at 6:00 AM, heading toward the Lighthouse fishing grounds.
Captain Chewy worked the area using live ballyhoo and the charter's tournament-style dredge equipment.
At 8:15 AM, a striped marlin struck live ballyhoo close to the Lighthouse. The crew successfully landed the fish, opening a productive stretch of fishing that would continue for more than two hours.
The nearby Pacific waters were producing opportunities without requiring the group to travel to distant offshore banks.
Cabo Fishing Charter Hooks Sailfish Two Miles Offshore
At 9:35 AM, a sailfish struck live ballyhoo approximately two miles in front of the Lighthouse.
The fish was successfully landed, giving Christine's group its second billfish species of the morning.
Sailfish are prized by Cabo anglers for their speed, powerful runs and impressive dorsal fins. Encountering one alongside striped marlin made this five-hour charter particularly memorable.
Cabo Fishing Charter Adds Dorado Near the Lighthouse
At 10:00 AM, another strike came just half a mile offshore.
This time, a dorado attacked ballyhoo and was successfully landed.
The catch brought the morning's species count to three, highlighting the variety of gamefish available along Cabo's Pacific coastline.
Only 40 minutes later, the crew encountered another striped marlin.
At 10:40 AM, the fish struck live ballyhoo directly in front of the Lighthouse. Following a successful fight, the second marlin was released in good condition.
