Wishing all a very merry Christmas and a safe and happy New Year. Are anglers are having some great success landing trout and stripers. Up on Lake Mohave the striper bite has been picking up. I have heard that both glide baits and top water pencil poppers have been producing some fantastic catches.
Here below the Davis dam and along the shores of the Colorado River its rainbow trout and stripers that are pleasing our local and visiting anglers. Our local angler Gerry ward has his limit of 5 that he landed while fishing in the community park area. Gerry was fishing from shore and throwing a couple of his favorite spinners to land these rainbows. Sometimes it is a good idea to make the change to various colors or patterns even when bait fishing you might have to get the right color to produce your limit.
Also, in the community park area and fishing from shore for the trout that were stocked. We have Mike Ambrowine and Bob Hart both fishing from shore. Bob had just hooked a couple of trout when Mike got a surprise bite. Mind you he was fishing for our pan size fish using a trout lure with 6 lb test line. Mike told me this 16.32-pound striper at 37 inches almost spooled him. This means that he had very little line left on his reel when the fish tired and he could turn it to bring in the fish to shore. A great story and a super catch.
We do have some of our smaller stripers out there but this time of year these fish can surprise the best of anglers. Hope this helps for now and we look forward to having you in to share that catch mostly thanks for all of your support.
