The rains from Julius had little effect on the offshore fishing and
may have even improved the overall action. While the billfish bite
was just so-so, the "Gaviota VIII", with Captain Juan Dominquez,
landed 10 stripers for five fishing days, along with 28 yellowfin
tuna. The overall combined reports for the Gaviota & Fish Cabo
Fleets for a total of 32 fishing days, reflected 19 stripers, (14
released) 4 sailfish, (2 released) 1 wahoo, 62 dorado and 72
yellowfin tuna.
Cabo Climate: Much improved with the passing of Julius and following the 6 inches off rain. It's now back to mostly sunshine and temps from 75 nights to 93 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Excellent water temps, ranging from 81-83 degrees from the Golden Gate Bank around to the Gorda Banks, mostly calm with murky inshore waters from the rain runoff.
Best Fishing Area: The Golden Gate Bank has again flared up with assorted action that included stripers, dorado and yellowfin tuna.
Best Lure/Bait: Live bait was best for the billfish, tuna on the feathers and dorado on both, artificials and live bait.
Live Bait Suppy: Good, mostly caballitos.
