It appears that the fishing has finally turned the corner at Mazatlan and picked up considerably this past week from where it has been. The fleet, reporting in for 33 fishing days reflected 15 stripers, 3 sailfish, 37 dorado, 1 mako shark and 3 yellowfin tuna for the offshore waters. Inshore catches for 15 super panga days reflected a wide variety that included 8 jack cravelle, (toros) 3 corvina, 1 big red snapper, (no weight provided) 5 cabrilla to 35 lbs., 2 vaquetas, 17 pargo, (10 lb. Average) 20 mojarras, 2 conejos and 8 lenguas.
Mazatlan Climate: Mostly sunny with picture perfect warm days, temps from 52 nights to 88 daytime highs.
Sea Conditions: Mostly calm with light surface breezes, temps from 73-74 inshore, rising to 76-77 offshore.
Best Fishing Area: Out to the southwest of Marina El Cid, 20-30 miles.
Best Bait/Lure: Most of the offshore fish were taken on slow trolled rigged baits.
